I'm the clinical director here at Empath; I believe in identifying your strengths and feel it is important to focus on “what is working” rather than dwelling on all that is “wrong” in your life.
I have been working for over 13 years in the field of counseling and consulting. I trained at Rogers Memorial Hospital, a nationally recognized leader in eating disorder care. In addition to providing therapy in local private practices, I worked as part of an eating disorder treatment team at a local eating disorder clinic. Valuing a collaborative approach to treatment, I work closely with dietitians and am committed to making appropriate referrals to psychiatrists and other medical doctors.
I am a certified life coach and business consultant. My primary areas of focus have been on wellness, career exploration & enhancement, relationship and interpersonal skills, managing stress & burnout, grief recovery, and helping clients navigate through difficult life and work situations.
My career in private practice began after receiving a BA from Ripon College (Ripon, WI) and a Master's Degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology from Marquette University (Milwaukee, WI).
The counseling relationship is very unique. We choose to share a very personal story and journey with another person. When I first met Rachel I immediately felt “seen”. Rachel is an amazing, caring, empathetic counselor and she is wise beyond her years. She has a unique ability to not only see the goodness in people, but to reflect that vision back to them. She was able to meet me where I was in my journey and walk with me as I explored deeper and deeper. Although she let me lead the way, I always knew she “had my back” and that I was not alone. I will be eternally grateful for her help!
I have always thought of a good therapist as someone with the same qualities as a close friend except with the usual patient/provider boundaries. Rachel falls into this category for me and is someone who I’ve come to admire and respect. I’ve worked with her both in individual and group settings. She is professional, easy to talk to, has a good sense of humor and has really been able to help me clarify and help change many thinking patterns/behaviors that were keeping me stuck for so long. For the first time in my life, I’m learning to love myself – thanks Rachel!
"The work I’ve been able to accomplish with the guidance and support provided by Rachel has transcended all of my expectations. And I am now living the highest version of myself."
"Working with Rachel has been more helpful than I will ever be able to put into words. It's amazing how much better I feel now and how I feel more equipped to deal with what life throws my way. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!"
